The PLACE Division is responsible for the oversight of approximately 2,000 privately-owned cemeteries, funeral homes, and crematories in Illinois that sell goods and services on a pre-need basis. These businesses must hold a license from the Comptroller and must file annual reports accounting for their financial activities. Our goal is to protect and monitor consumer’s trust funds to ensure proper delivery of goods and services at the time of need. The P.L.A.C.E. Division: Pre-need Licensing And Certification Enforcement continues to serve our licensees and consumers of the State of Illinois by providing them with the necessary tools and resources in order to maintain compliance and to make informed decisions.
